Need help overcoming breakup with married man

Asked by Female, 26, Single
Hello, I have been overlooked by the person with whom I had a relationship with, for the sake of his wife. I am unable to come out of this. I have made a mistake of getting along with a married man and trusting that he loves me the way I loved him.

Of course you still love him and want to reach out to him but you can't. That makes you feel helpless. Understandably you feel weak and hurt because it is a lot to take in. It can be very overwhelming because the relationship meant something to you. As you said, maybe you made the mistake of getting involved with a married man but it takes two willing people to get involved in the first place.
You felt loved, cared for and special in the relationship. The efforts he put in and the things he said made you trust and commit to the relationship. You felt secure enough to expect the same from him.
To have to hear that the relationship is over, that too from his wife must have been incredibly difficult. You are full of anger and pain because it doesn't seem fair to you.
Although you feel you may not get your answers or have the entire picture and that it might be unhealthy for you, you still feel and hope he comes to you.
How this situation plays out is anyone's guess.
Today you have yourself to focus on and right now you are hurting which needs tending to. So one day at a time. What happens tomorrow is not today's problem.
You don't need to figure anything out now. We will cross that bridge together when you are up for it. As for now, I want you to think of things you turn to for comfort on a bad day. Can you do that tonight?
